Special Education
Child Find
Child Find seeks to identify and provide special services to children who qualify and who live within our district. Our Special Education Department provides services for children with disabilities from birth to 21 years of age. These services include:
Preschool for disabled children (ages 3–5)
Occupational therapy
Physical therapy
Speech therapy
Educational intervention for school age children (K–8)
Referral for children ages birth–2 1⁄2 to Arizona Early Intervention Program
Available specialists in learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, mild and moderate mental retardation, severe and profound mental retardation, deaf and hard of hearing, and visual impairments
Free and Appropriate Public Education
The public education programs and services provided to Arizona residents are free and appropriate for each child’s individual needs, including those children who identify as homeless. These educational services may include Title I, Part A of the ESEA, educational programs for individuals with disabilities, programming for students with limited English proficiency, vocational education programs, gifted and talented programs, Head Start, Even Start, and school meal programs.
